Retirement Plans - Financial Security Upon Retirement

Most employees, upon reaching retirement age, anticipate such time when they can totally relax while still enjoying financial security. Thats why even at the very beginning of their employment, they are already looking far into the future about the kind of retirement benefits they might possibly get.

There are formal contracts to provide retirement benefits for employees upon reaching retirement age. They are called retirement plans. Some retirement plans can be set up by the employee themselves while some are sponsored by their employer.

The Employee Retirement Income Security Act or ERISA Law is the federal law governing employees retirement plans. Qualified retirement plan is the operative term for the specific plan that complies with ERISA law. By complying with this applicable law, the plans taxes are deferred on contributions and earnings of the employee until withdrawn. ERISA has non-discrimination rules and other safety nets to protect employees benefits.

Although there are no existing laws that obligate employers to establish retirement plans for their employees, they may provide such packages in order to attract incoming employees and maintain present employees. Aside from that, setting up qualified plans by employers lets them gain tax benefits.

If there are qualified plans, there can also be non-qualified plans. As opposed to the former, non-qualified plans, as the work itself connotes, do not qualify the plan for tax benefits. Such plans are usually set up by employers for their management executives.

There are several examples of qualified retirement plans. The more popular ones are the individual retirement account or IRA. It is a contract by the employee with himself with the purpose of having the money in a tax-qualified account until their actual retirement.

In having an IRA, the employees taxes are postponed contributions along with the ensuing earnings until they are withdrawn.

The 401(k) plans, is another type of a delayed compensation plan. An employee can contribute ever year while their employers share a corresponding percentage of what they contribute. Not until the employee start receiving distributions does he get taxed for contributions.

However if the employee starts withdrawing before they reached the age of 59 1/2, he may have to pay up stiff penalties. However, contributions can grow and accumulate until withdrawal, and everything is on a pre-tax basis.

Profit sharing plans, in simplest terms let employees share in the profits. This type of plan gives employers a chance to supplement other retirement benefits for the employee. It depends on the employer how much are the contributions. Employers must observe that the contributions must be on a non-discriminatory basis. Usually employers make contributions according to the percentage of total annual pay roll.

Pension plans have two basic qualified types. The defined benefit plans have a specific pension amount according to a certain formula and the defined contribution plans have a specific amount the employees are required to contribute in individual accounts.

It is essential for an employee to be aware of the retirement plan set up by their employers during their employment. Employees need to understand the plan itself, how it works and what benefits to be gained. Then, they must also keep tabs of their money wherever it is deposited. This way, employees and their families can be assured of their future financial security.

Vitamin B12 Injections

Vitamin B12 injections are an effective and tested cure for patients suffering from a deficiency of the vitamin. Although there is much dispute vis--vis oral supplementation of cobalamin and nasal sprays, these injections are the classical, prescribed and accepted remedies for speedy recovery.

Patients suffering from pernicious anemia are treated with a regular dosage of vitamin B12 injections. This is due to the fact that they are unable to absorb sufficient vitamin B12 from their dietary food sources and therefore require intramuscular injections to aid absorption. Nowadays, there are substitutes in the form of oral supplementation; however physicians generally resort to this classical treatment.

Research findings show ample evidence to reveal that cobalamin injections of 1-2 mg per day can quickly correct deficiencies. It is not apparent whether smaller amounts, such as the 25 mcg or so found in multivitamins, are sufficient to cure deficiencies. Such a claim is substantiated by the fact that although oral supplementation with vitamin B12 is safe, efficient and inexpensive and most multi-vitamin pills contain 100-200 microgram of the cyanocobalamin form of B12, many multivitamins cannot be chewed, which is important for its absorption.

The body's ability to absorb vitamin B12 is reduced with increasing age. Older people are often detected to have a more potent vitamin B12 deficiency, even in cases where they do not suffer from pernicious anaemia. Moreover, an intake of vitamin B12 from food sources decreases markedly with an increase in age, probably because of a lack of stomach acid. The conventional way of fixing a vitamin B12 deficiency has been through intramuscular injections. Experiments also reveal that vitamin B12 intramuscular injections are useful healers of neurological disorders such as progressive memory loss and lethargy.

To maintain vitamin B12 status, the alternatives to high oral doses of cobalamin (500-1000 micrograms daily) are routine intramuscular injections at a dosage of 1 mg per month. This also helps to lower homocysteine levels in the blood, thereby reducing the probability of heart diseases and strokes.

The utility of vitamin B12 is not restricted to curing deficiencies. Injections can also serve therapeutic purposes. A vitamin B12 injection acts as a stimulant for energizing the body, through cobalamin, which transmits its anti-stress elements to the human body. For example a recommended effective cure for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is 6-70mg dose of vitamin B12 intramuscular injection per week for 3 weeks.

What is Nintendo Wii?

The Nintendo Wii was introduce in 2001 and that is just the same time as Game Cube was being released. It was named Revolution initially but it was changed to simply Wii, pronounced as 'we'. Nintendo invested a huge amount into advertising for the Wii.

What makes it different from other Video Games?

The Wii gaming system comes with a basic controller. This can be used for all of the games and is simple to use. The interaction between the Players and the Games is through the players movement by holding on to the controller such as a basic gesture may be to be pitching a ball. The controller is placed in the hand and the player uses it by rolling the hand forward in the pitching motion. This is a basic controller, but functions very well for the gaming system.

Looking at Wii Boxing - a Fun and Innovative Game

One of the innovative interactive game is Wii Boxing. The games are easy to learn but need practices There are also similar other type of games such as Wii Bowling, Wii Baseball, Wii Tennis for everyone to play.

The important part of this Wii system is the Wii controller. The Key of the system is the light weight controller that enable players to interact with the many games, including Wii Boxing. It contains a motion detector that copies onto the game a persons movements. This can vary from game to game.

On Wii Boxing game, player needs to purchase an extra console to play the game. This is the Wii Nunchuk. Wii Nunchuk is needed to control the motion in the Wii Boxing game. Players hold the regular controller in one hand, and the Nunchuk in the other. Plug both controllers in, and then play can begin.

It may seem a little strange at first playing the Wii Boxing, standing and punching in the air, but once the player gets the hang of it, throwing punches at an opponent seems to come naturally.

The Wii Boxing game can really give a great exercise. With all the jumping and jabbing required during the game, many calories can burn up fast. Some players may have noticed that their punches may not be landing very accurately but try to maintain accuracy, and avoid having your own character punched, is a balancing act that Wii Boxing is trying to maintain in its game. Since both a Nunchuk and the regular Wii controller are needed for this game, more practice is required to be able to handle the controllers.

It is a great choice of games for the family at the same time keep you healthy with all the body movement.

The Most Effective Fat Burning And Muscle Building Workout That Takes Just 13 Minutes

Most people who want to burn off some excess pounds and tighten and tone their bodies simply dont have 2 hours each day to spend in the gym performing the bodybuilding style workouts that most fitness experts recommend.

Plus, these workouts consist of exercises and techniques that do not exercise the body in the way it is normally used so they end up building a somewhat unusable strength. In my opinion, most people, unless their main objective is body building, shouldnt perform the traditional style workouts

While I do still believe that machine and free weight strength training is the best choice for body building, it is NOT the best choice when it comes to general fitness goals like strength, flexibility, endurance, etc.

I dont know about you, but I can barely fit in 15 minutes for exercise let alone 2 hours and I personally am not interested in muscle size alone (which doesnt mean strength and usually leaves you stiff and inflexible)! Im sure your schedule is probably the same. The good news though is you dont have to you can burn fat, increase flexibility, build unbelievable strength and endurance, reshape your body, and build a level of fitness that is truly functional.

I want to share with you a workout that I do personally that delivers a great combination of strength, flexibility, cardio and muscular endurance, and fat burning.

WARNING: The following workout will not only surprise you, but it will likely go against everything you ever thought to be true about fitness. Also, it is recommend you consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.

Are you ready? Good, here it is:

The following exercises should be performed with little or no rest between and you may need to adjust the number of repetitions or time depending upon your current fitness level.

  • Jumping Jacks 1 minute

  • Bodyweight squat (one-leg squat for advanced) 15-20 reps

  • Push-ups (slower reps for advanced) as many reps as possible

  • Kick butts (jog in place and kick your rear with both heels) 1 minute

  • Hamstring floor bridge (use swiss ball or one leg for advanced) - 15-20 reps

  • Superman (lying on stomach w/ arms out to side, lift legs and chest off floor) 15-20 reps

  • High knees (jog in place lifting knees as high as possible) 1 minute

  • Stationary lunge 15-20 reps

  • Torso rotations/twists 20 reps each direction

  • Side bends/reaches 20 reps each direction

  • Mountain climbers 1 minute (if you can J)

  • Wall sit as long as you can hold it

  • Dips (use chair/bench/stairs) as many reps as possible

There you have it sounds easy, right? That couldnt possibly do anything, right? I personally challenge you try it no, try it right now! Drop what you are doing and give it a shot and see for yourself. If you find it a bit easy, which I doubt, perform it 2-3 times thru without rest.

This workout will deliver more usable fitness results and benefits than any traditional gym or health club workout. Now, you can of course implement this type of workout in the gym and make it even better, but the beauty of this is you can do it anywhere!

Also, this is just one example and as you can imagine, there thousands of other exercises you can add or replace I actually recommend switching the exercises every 2-4 weeks or even better is to put together 3 or 4 different workouts and then rotate them.

If you are not familiar with one of the exercises just replace it with one you know that works the same part of the body. You can also learn all of these exercises along with dozens of others in my soon to be released video which will consists of several workouts like this that you can do anywhere to build and maintain awesome levels of fitness, even workouts with dumbbells, swiss balls, medicine balls, and more watch for it in coming months.

Success Lessons From Cricket That Can Improve Your Life

This summer (2005) huge crowds in England and Australia have been following the 5 test match series between England and Australia. The sides are evenly matched and have played some of the most exciting cricket seen for many years. Whether you play cricket or not, you will find some great success lessons in this series of matches.

The first success lesson is that you and I must not dwell on our mistakes however humiliating they are. We have to be tough minded and just focus on the next ball to be bowled or the next project in our lives.

Cricket is a team game but there are only 11 players fielding (bowling and catching the ball) and they are spread out on a large field. Any mistakes you make are seen at once by your team mates and the audience. The mistakes of the batting side are also clearly visible as only two people bat at a time.

Kevin Pietersen, the promising England batsman, dropped two catches in the first test when he was fielding but then went on to a play a good batsman's innings. A commentator remarked that he must have a strong mind to get over the disappointment of dropping the catches enough to allow him to bat well

Geraint Jones, the wicket keeper, had also dropped two catches and again a commentator remarked that you can try to put your mistakes at the back of your mind but it is not that easy. The memory keeps recurring. However, Jones batted well in spite of the memory that must have haunted him. Later in the series, he also took some magnificent catches to make up for the ones he had dropped.

Both captains, Michael Vaughan and Ricky Ponting, batted poorly in the first two tests and were heavily criticized in the papers. However, in the third test match both captains batted extraordinarily well. They both showed the fighting spirit to get over the depression they must have felt after the first and second matches and the criticism they were receiving daily.

A second key success lesson is that you must not get distracted from your goal of scoring runs or anything else by mental or physical pain. In ordinary life, many painful things can happen which can demoralise you unless you are determined enough to keep going in spite of the pain. Keep focused on your goals and dreams whatever happens.

Those who have not played cricket may not realise how hard a cricket ball is. It is especially hard and bouncy when it is new. Fast bowlers are usually given the new ball so that they can bounce it high to hit the batsmen in the head, throat, ribs or hands.

Once the batsmen get distracted by the pain in their head or hands, they will be vulnerable to the next ball and will do something silly like knocking up a catch or failing to protect their wicket (the three stumps or sticks protruding from the ground) from getting hit by the ball.

Brett Lee, the Australian fast bowler, was run out when he hesitated before running. He wanted to flap his hand to get rid of the pain. His index finger and then his thumb had been hit by fast balls. Later, however, in another match, he redeemed himself by batting well even though he had been hit hard on the head and the arm!

On the second day of the first test England were bowling at the Australians who were having their second innings (chance to bat).

However, the England bowlers were not harassing the batsmen enough. Boycott, the former great England batsman, commented that the ball should be whistling about the batsmen's ears and hitting their gloves:

"The ball is new and hard. Now is the time to hit the batsmen before the ball gets too soft. Once the batsmen get too comfortable, they will start thinking: 'I fancy scoring a hundred.'"

Even the tailenders or weaker batsmen who bat last have to suffer. The bowlers cannot allow them to stay in too long. Boycott continues:

"Bowlers should hit the tailenders in the ribs or on the hand before they get too comfortable. That's what you have to do as a fast bowler. You have to hurt the opposition tailenders. Tailenders are alright if there is not a likelihood of them getting hurt. They're not too brave."

On Saturday, the third day of the test, the Australian tail enders were batting. Gillespie, one of the tailenders, was hit in the stomach near the belly button. He grimaced in pain. A few balls later he was hit in the groin by a ball from Harmison and doubled over in agony. The ball was travelling at about 90 miles an hour. The crowd roared with laughter. Harmison had been aiming for the throat and the toes and the crown jewels

It can take a good over (6 balls from the same bowler) or two to get focused after being hurt. But Gillespie is a gutsy player and practises hard at his batting. He realizes it is important for a tailender to score runs or at least stay in. He batted on bravely.

The gutsy performance of the Australian tailenders had much to do with the Australian success in the first test match of the Ashes series. They had learned how to overcome sharp physical pain and recover their focus quickly.

We all need to learn to accept the fact that we will suffer mental and physical pain at some point in achieving our goals. The secret is to forget the pain as quickly as possible and just concentrate on doing what we have to do.

Further success lessons came from the third test match. One of them is that sometimes it is better not to listen to the critics whether they are outside or inside your own head.

Australia had won the first test match and then England won the second test on the 7th Aug 2005 a date that will go down in history as the date of one of the greatest cricket matches ever played.

England won the match by 2 runs only - an amazingly close margin. Much of the success was due to the England captain, Michael Vaughan, but Vaughan had not scored enough runs himself in this test or the first one. He could guarantee that the papers would be having a go at him in a big way. His solution was simple. He did not read the papers.

On Thursday, England went in to bat. Michael Vaughan was in third and was under great pressure to perform. This is where his policy of not reading the papers paid off. He scored his first century of the series. The audience were up and out of their seats applauding as he succeeded. He had scored 13 fours (hits to the boundary).

A captain who scores runs can lead by example. It is important that he is in form as actions speak much louder than words. In the end he made a large total of 166 runs with about 20 four's and at least one six (a hit over the boundary).

He told an interviewer that before batting he had talked to the young boy who was the England mascot for the day. The lad had already had three heart by pass operations. This made Vaughan feel less tension as he realised that, at the age of thirty, he had so much to be thankful for and that scoring or not scoring runs was not that important in the whole scheme of things.

He also decided to bat on intuition and not to think too much. He had already done his thinking and his practice. Once he was facing some of the best bowlers in the world, he would not have time to think. His plan worked and he smashed the ball all over the place.

However, in the end Australia held out for a draw. They were saved mainly by the rain which meant that England had less time to get them out than was necessary.

So then: keep going even if you make embarrassing mistakes in full public view. Regain your focus on your goals even if you have been hit by physical or mental pain. Even the great Jim Rohn lost a million dollars after he had signed a form without realising the liabilities involved. He soon regained his focus and the lost money. Refuse to fill your mind with the views of your critics and keep your life in perspective by thinking of those millions of people who are so much worse off than you. Finally,once your thinking has been done, take action wholeheartedly without worrying about the results.

Your shower curtain is likely the largest item in your bathroom, so its in your own interest to put some thought into which one you want to hang up. These days, there are so many different options as to what your shower curtain can look and feel like, the experience of shopping for a shower curtain can be more like shopping for a beautiful tapestry than a useful bathroom tool.

Thats because shower curtains have taken that giant step from being only about function to becoming a beautiful form on their own. You may even end up decorating your entire bathroom based on which shower curtain you pick out.

There are shower curtains today that dont just fit any tub, they fit any taste, too. Sports enthusiasts are sure to be able to find a basketball, football, or baseball shower curtain. There are also shower curtains with popular Disney characters or other themes. There are retro style curtains and clear curtains and opaque shower curtains. There are even curtains that have a clear window just for your face, and then a body painted on the rest to turn yourself into a caricature. And there are, of course, beautiful fabric shower curtains with beautiful designs that a even a queen would be pleased to own.

Most fabric shower curtains can be washed in a laundry machine or at least dry-cleaned. It may seem strange to have to wash your shower curtains. After all, when they are in use, its because youre cleaning yourself, but that certainly doesnt mean that they are getting clean, too. There are a few steps you can follow to take care of a plastic shower curtain:

1. Remove the shower curtain from its hooks.

2. Lay the curtain on a flat surface outside.

3. Rinse using a garden hose.

4. Scrub the curtain with a sponge and mixture of diluted bleach, using one quart of water for every cup of bleach.

5. Rinse thoroughly.

6. Repeat on other side.

7. Allow to dry.

Make sure that you do not wash your plastic or vinyl shower curtains in the washing machine on the hot setting, nor should you put one in the dryer it could melt. Following these cleaning tips should really make your shower curtain fresh and clean.

The Evolution of The Worldwide Email System

Marketing through email has become a very popular way of marketing today and an effective way of communicating with your customers. With the advent of the Internet and new information technology, email marketing has risen to be one of the most effective and productive means of advertising successfully.

Email is short for electronic mail. The Wikipedia definition of Email is "a store and forward method of composing, sending, storing, and receiving messages over electronic communication systems". The term "e-mail" (as a noun or verb) applies to both to the Internet e-mail system based on the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMPT) and the intranet systems allowing users within one organization to e-mail each other.

The spelling of the term e-mail or email is disputed and will change from one field to the next. For example, "e-mail (with the hyphen) is used primarily in the journalism field including such noted organizations as CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times and the BBC. On the other hand, the term 'email (without the hyphen is used by the general computer industry and is based on the technical roots of the term.

Email is one of the main reasons people use the Internet. Email actually predates the Internet and was a critical tool used in the creation of the Internet. The purpose of the 1965 development of email was to provide a way for multiple users of a time-sharing mainframe computer to communicate with each other. Then, by late 1966, email evolved to allow what was known as network email which allowed users to pass messages between different computers. Back in the 1965-66 era, no one actually realized that electronic mail would become very useful and eventually be a focal point in worldwide communications, building relationships, both personal and business.

The next evolutionary step of email was the creation of the packet switching network. Development by the Department of Defense The Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, otherwise known as ARPANET, was the predecessor to the global Internet. Packet Switching is now the primary basis for both data and voice communications worldwide. In essence, Packet Switching took the place of Circuit Switching, as in the old typical telephone circuit.

The main differences between the two are easily discernable. With Circuit Switching(old telephone circuit), a dedicated circuit was tied up for the duration of a call and communication was only possible with one single party on the other end of the circuit. Packet Switching could use one communication link to communicate with more then one machine by assembling data into packets. It was a major advancement that not only could the link be shared but each packet could also be routed independently of other packets.

The whole email system in use today is at the very peak of it's evolution and newer more powerful technologies and being developed as I write this article. Today's email systems allows people to communicate with each other any time of the day or night and to anyone anywhere in the world. I suppose next we will be emailing our friends who are vacationing on the moon.
